Description

POMEX Pear-shaped Separatory Funnel

Product Specifications

Brand: POMEX

Product: Pear-shaped Separatory Funnel

Material: High Borosilicate Glass

Volume Range: 10ml~10000ml

Product Features

  1. Fine frosted joints for excellent sealing performance
  2. High chemical stability
  3. High light transmittance, easy to observe experiments

Application

The pear-shaped separatory funnel is a common glass laboratory instrument, mainly used for extraction and separation operations in chemical experiments.

Usage Instructions

  1. Assembly and Inspection: Check the appearance for damage. Do not use if broken.
  2. Seal Test: Fill with water, close the stopcock, invert the funnel, and check for bubbles or leakage at the frosted joint and stopcock.
  3. Pre-Rinse: Rinse the inner wall 3 times with the target solvent to reduce sample adsorption.
  4. Filling Liquid: Fill the funnel with no more than 75% of its total volume (to leave air chamber for safety).
  5. Grip: Hold the stopcock core with one hand and support the funnel neck with the other.
  6. Shake: Tilt at 30°, invert to 180°, and return to the original position (1 time/second) for 10-20 seconds.
  7. Vent: Always vent after shaking, especially when using volatile solvents.
  8. Stand for Layer Separation: Keep the temperature stable. Place the amber version in the dark for light-sensitive reagents.
  9. Discharge Liquid: Open the stopper to ventilate, then open the stopcock to release the lower layer liquid. Close the stopcock immediately at the boundary line.

Safety Precautions

  1. Keep Joints Clean: Rinse and wipe the frosted stopper with a soft cloth before use, then air-dry.
  2. Use Vacuum Grease: For high sealing requirements, apply a small amount of Vaseline or vacuum grease on the frosted surface.
  3. Use PTFE Sleeves: If Vaseline or vacuum grease cannot be used in the experiment, use PTFE thin sleeves.
  4. Read Scale Properly: Keep your eyes level with the scale line and read the lowest point of the meniscus.
  5. Vent Before Shaking: Shaking without venting will cause the stopper to pop open.
  6. Prevent Leakage: Close the stopcock before shaking.

Storage

When not in use, insert a piece of paper between the frosted joint and glass stopcock to prevent them from sticking together. Secure with a rubber band to prevent slipping.
