How to Use

  1. Pre-Experiment Preparation: Confirm the 100x objective lens is an oil immersion lens (marked with "OIL").
  2. Adjust Light Source: Raise the condenser to the highest position, fully open the aperture to maximize light intensity.
  3. Add Cedarwood Oil: Turn the coarse focus knob to raise the lens barrel. Place 1 drop of cedarwood oil between the objective and the specimen's observation area. Avoid excess oil or contaminating other areas of the slide.
  4. Switch Objective Lens: Rotate the nosepiece to switch from low power to the 100x oil immersion lens, ensuring it is directly below the lens barrel.
  5. Immersion Operation: Observe from the side, slowly turn the coarse focus knob to lower the oil lens vertically until it is immersed in the cedarwood oil and makes light contact with the slide.
  6. Initial Focus: Slowly turn the coarse focus knob in the opposite direction to raise the lens barrel until the specimen image appears in the eyepiece.
  7. Fine Focus: Adjust with the fine focus knob until the image in the field of view is clear.
  8. Observe the Specimen: Use the left hand to move the stage adjuster to position the specimen, and use the fine focus knob for detailed observation.
  9. Post-Use Cleaning: Use xylene to clean the lens first. If xylene is unavailable, use a 7:3 mixture of alcohol and ether.
