Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA)

Intended Use

A general-purpose nutrient medium for the cultivation of various microorganisms. It is also applied for the purification culture and yellow pigment production test of Cronobacter sakazakii.

Composition (g/L)

Tryptone: 15.0

Soy peptone: 5.0

Sodium chloride: 5.0

Agar: 15.0

pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25℃

Test Principle

Tryptone and soy peptone supply nitrogen sources, vitamins and growth factors for microbial growth. Sodium chloride maintains balanced osmotic pressure of the medium, while agar acts as the gelling agent.
